Should be a great crowd showing up,-Hell i am even planning to make an appearance!

We will be set up on the Miami side(north side) of the bridge in a 32 foot Fleetwood Southwind Rv greeting and registering anglers Friday March 20.Fish close to the ends if you want to make measuring,photographing and releasing your sharks easier,,,,,,,,just a suggestion to make life easier guys and girls.

Are people going to be staying fishing through Sunday morning? I'm trying to decide if I should come down Friday night after work and fish through Saturday afternoon, or come down Saturday morning and fish through Sunday.

Will count me in, I will be at both and fish one for sure.

We Want to make everyone aware of some new award categories and a few minor changes that were voted at the last shark club reunion Monday night. .

This year we will have two Rene Memorial Events on Long key bridge .Like in past years we expect to have a large turnout so come prepared with everything you need to stay overnight on the bridge.The first Event will be held from Friday March 20 to Sunday March 22/2009.The second one will be held from Friday April 17 to Sunday April 19/2009.As always we will start getting together early Friday morning on the north side of the Long key bridge parking lot.Wear your SOUTH FLORIDA SHARK CLUB shirt and bring your best Rene pictures so we can remember the lejend and the good times we shared with him.This event is open to anyone who wants to participate all you have to do is notify me of your group size and the names of the anglers fishing.We will have 3 cash prizes for the biggest sharks caught during the weekend event.We have a mandatory pool for anyone that wants to compete during the weekend event.To enter the pool you must put up $20 per angler competing.Money will be awarded divided in three parts 50% to first place,30% to second place and 20% to the third place winner.The total money collected will be given out as prizes.The fish category will be for trophies.

RULES
All sharks must be released.All sharks must be photographed with a digital camera so we can review the pictures .All sharks must be measured and the winners will be determined by overall length.The measuring tape must be visible next to the shark so we can determine length,,,,,,.no exceptions!!!

WEIGHT OR LENGTH We will have a scale on the north end so if you want weigh your fish that will be the place to take it or you can measure it.It's not a big deal we are trying to keep a family friendly atmosphere. Winners in the fish category can be determined by overall length,or heaviest.

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH ANGLER TO DOCUMENT THERE CATCH BY TAKING DIGITAL PICTURES WITH YOUR FISH AND A MEASURING TAPE NEXT TO IT IF YOU INTEND TO RELEASE YOUR FISH.IF YOU'RE TAKING HOME TO COOK JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET THE FISH TO US SO WE CAN WEIGH IT AND MAKE IT OFFICIAL.

Well who caught the biggest sharks? I have a couple pictures of Shannon's blacktip I'll put up later. Unfortunately I ended up leaving around midnight, I was going to stay the night but I was feeling like crap, turns out I'm running almost a 102 degree fever. Went out to one of my snapper holes further out and got a limit of mangroves to 17", tons of 14-15" muttons and a 21" black. Great event Will.

LOL all i want to know is how come i wake up Sunday morning step out of the tent and i am ALONE, I am the only person on the whole bridge!

HEY Rory thanks a million for the pictures, i got hit in the middle of hard rain and wind gusts and wifey couldnt find it in the tent, so you have the only pictures of the winning shark!!!
